Archaeological Dig in Knockin
Knockin Parish Council
Sharped eyed villagers will have noticed there is an archaeological dig taking place in the field at the back of Church Lane.
Evidence of the historic settlement at Knockin is being revealed with evidence of field systems, ditches and possibly a ’town’ wall. So far there have been no finds to indicate the date of what is being excavated - but it is likely to be medieval or possibly earlier. There will be report on the results of the excavations in a few months time. We will publicise where this can be found on the website and in the Telescope.
The archaeologists have asked us to point out this is a dangerous site and people should not go beyond the barriers and fences in place.
