About Knockin Parish

Knockin Parish encompasses Knockin village, the hamlet of Osbaston, and the area round the telescope.  It also includes the land as far as the A5 at the Shotatton cross roads and many of the fields and homes in between. The village is a medieval plantation style village which is characterised by plots for tenements with kitchen gardens placed on each side of a single road through the settlement.

Amenities and Services

Knockin village is served by the 576 bus service to the nearby towns of Oswestry and Shrewsbury. Visit the Tanat Valley Coaches website for up to date bus timetables.

Knockin is fortunate enough to have the Knockin Shop, a pub, The Bradford Arms, Saint Mary's Church, a medical centre, an amenity area with play equipment, which is next to the Knockin Village Hall (previously known as the Knockin Assembly Rooms), as well as a range of local businesses.

The Knockin Village Hall is used for a range of activities including public meetings, badminton, craft fairs, quizzes, coffee and chat sessions, dog training etc., and is available for hire for private events. The Village Hall is managed by a Committee, and the sole charity trustee is Knockin Parish Council, but we are very keen to recruit new committee members from outside the Parish Council.

Parish Council

The Parish Council is made up of 7 elected members, who are classed as holders of office, and they are not paid for their time. Find out more about the Council and who your councillors are. The Council employs a part-time clerk to act as Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer for the Parish Council, and also to help administrate the Village Hall Committee. The clerk is available to contact by email and phone in the daytime on Mondays - Friday, but as they only work 7hrs/week please note there may be a delay in response.
